Third Grade

The students engage in research projects, take notes, and learn to put it in their own words. They write narrative stories and information and opinion stories.  Students distinguish their own point of view from that of the narrator or those of the characters.Students determine the main ideas  and support details of a text read aloud or information present to them. Students learn content specific words. 

In third grade, students learn concepts and skills for multiplication and division of whole numbers and understanding fractions. They will be able to explain why a procedure works and why an answer is correct. The students will gain fluency multiplying and dividing within a 100. Students learn about fractions.

Students in third grade expand on their musical knowledge to move towards notation while both singing and playing instruments. 

The students learn about the Sacraments.. The students will learn about the Great Commandment, Beatitudes, virtues, and saints. Prayers: The Sign of the Cross, The Our Father, The Hail Mary, Grace, Act of Contrition, Prayer to the Guardian Angel and Mass responses. 

The students will learn about the life cycle, different environments, and weather impacts. 

The third grade students get a broad overview of our American history. Students learn about native American tribes. 

This year has the students doing more in the gymnastic area with forward rolls, jump rope, balance, catch, thorough warm-up and cool-down exercise, set personal goals with the beep test.
