Athletics

Overview
The St. Matthew Athletics offers current 4th through 8th graders the opportunity to compete in Baseball, Volleyball, Basketball and Track & Field throughout the school year. 
Structure for Baseball, Volleyball, and Basketball:
4th grade: Balanced teams. Score is kept in baseball and basketball.  No score is kept in Volleyball.  No playoffs.
5th grade: Two divisions divided into ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams.  No playoffs.
6th - 8th grade: Divisional Structure (D1, D2, D3, D4).  Teams are eligible for playoffs
Structure for Track:
4th grade: Not eligible
5th-8th grade: Includes both running and field events.  Athletes are divided and assigned by event (sprint, distance, high jump, long jump, shot put); must make 3 of 5 meets and 2 of 3 practices a week
