Saint Matthew - a Catholic elementary school of the Peninsula
SCRIP program 2007-2008

Scrip are like gift certificates that are purchased in advance and used like cash at participating merchants. St. Matthew's purchases Scrip at a discount and sells them at full face value, retaining the discount amount as the fundraising income. It is a simple way to raise money for the school while purchasing everyday items like food, clothing and other essentials, without an added expense.

The Scrip program is the school's major fundraiser. Proceeds from Scrip benefit many of the needs of St. Matthew School.

Policy for Scrip/Volunteer Commitments
Annual Scrip commitment (minimum required purchase):
Returning Families:
  • $3,500/50 hours
  • $1,750/25 hours (for single adult households)
New Families:
  • $2,500/30 hours
  • $1,250/15 hours (for single adult households)

Scrip Option: A non-participation fee of $625.00 or partial participation fee that is prorated on the percentage of the remaining balance will be charged. One or the other is due by March 31, 2008.

The Scrip and Volunteer commitment must be fulfilled from

April 1, 2007 through March 31, 2008
January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2007
(eScrip only)*

Reminder:  When the Scrip commitment is reached, volunteer hours can be earned at a rate of one hour for every $200 of Scrip purchased.

*There is a two- to three-month lag time in the reporting of your eScrip purchases to us. In order for you to receive a full 12-month period of eScrip credit, and for us to have your final numbers by the March 31st year-end, we need to run the eScrip program on a calendar year basis.

Earn money for St. Matthew's electronically.  Register online or download the registration form (.pdf format) to participate in eScrip. After registering either your grocery loyalty cards (like the red Safeway Club Card), and/or your credit card or debit/ATM cards, you'll be earning money for the school every time you shop at any participating eScrip merchants.  eScrip automatically tracks your contributions and sends the school a monthly statement of how much each individual subscriber has spent.

escrip Renewal of Safeway Club Cards
(This applies to all Safeway Stores, including VONS and Pavilions)
Safeway is requiring all Club Card members to renew their commitment to shopping at Safeway for the eScrip program by November 1st. This is an annual renewal (every year between September 1st and October 31st) which will require either your phone number registered with eScrip, or your Safeway Club card number.

To renew your Safeway Club Card, visit www.escrip.com and click on "Yes, Renew".

If your Safeway Club card is not renewed by November 1st, your Safeway purchases will not be tracked for your contributions to St. Matthew's. It is possible to renew your Safeway card after November 1st, however the tracking will begin on the date you renew.

Renewal is required only for eScrip supporters who signed up before August 1st of the previous year.

Update your eScrip Account
It is important to keep your eScrip profile up-to-date by making sure all registered cards and expiration dates are current. From the eScrip web site, click on my eScrip.

Here are some of the many benefits to keeping your eScrip profile updated:
  • view monthly purchase reports
  • check expiration dates on registered credit/debit cards
  • update any registered credit card numbers that may have changed
For example,
If you suddenly see a considerable drop in your eScrip purchases from one month to the next, it could be due to one of the following:
  • you have not renewed your Safeway card
  • your credit/debit card has expired and your profile needs to reflect the new expiration date
  • your credit card number has changed and your profile needs to be updated with the new number
  • the merchant you have purchased from is no longer an eScrip participating merchant

Other eScrip Supporters
Remember that friends and other family members can always help with your Scrip commitment! If they are also Safeway shoppers, have them register with eScrip and support St. Matthew's. Don't forget to contact the Scrip committee to let us know of your other eScrip supporters. If they are already registered with eScrip, please pass the renewal information to them.

Here's a Quick Tip:
Since the renewal process is annual, if you have eScrip-registered friends and family members helping you with your commitment, keep a list of their Safeway cards and/or registered phone numbers. You can then renew for yourself and your supporters all at the same time!

eScrip and Macy's
(This currently applies to Macy's in California, Nevada, Hawaii, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Minnesota and Guam)
Macy's is now an eScrip participating merchant. If you have a Macy's charge card, or a Macy's VISA, go to the eScrip web site and register it. Then use your registered card when you shop at Macy's and you'll get credit toward your Scrip commitment. St. Matt's can receive up to 6% of your monthly Macy's purchases!

Nob Hill Foods, along with Raley's and Bel Air, has introduced a new paperless scrip program called the Quality of Life Program. It makes it easier for you to support St. Matthew's without having to purchase paper scrip ahead of time.

Quality of Life Request Quality of Life Card
Because the cards we were given are already allocated for St. Matthew's, we're keeping a list of all cards issued and the card ID#'s. Once we receive your request, your card will be delivered either by mail or via the Wednesday envelope.

Register your Quality of Life Card
  1. go to www.nobhill.com
  2. under Your Lifestyle, click on Scrip Program and follow the instructions for New Guests
  3. select the organization of your choice (maximum of three)
  4. present your card to the cashier during your transaction each time you shop at any Raley's, Bel Air or Nob Hill Foods
Nob Hill provides monthly reports of supporter contributions, so your Nob Hill receipts no longer need to be submitted for Scrip credit. The reports do not give the exact amount spent, however we can make an estimation based on a given tiered formula.

Buy-out

Other Non-School Family Supporters
You can always ask the assistance of friends and relatives to help with your Annual Scrip Commitment. We simply need their full names to give your family credit for their contributions. Send an email to the Scrip Committee to let us know!

Remember, you can earn one Volunteer Hour for every $200 over your Scrip commitment that you purchase!
