Yard Duty Information
View online yard duty schedule
Each family is responsible for two yard duty session from April 1 - March 31 each year. However, you are always welcome to help at any time as the more parents we have on the playground the safer it is for our children. All yard duty shifts count as two hours toward your family's volunteer hours commitment.
If you are unable to personally fulfill your assigned yard duty date you are responsible to find a replacement. Your family will be credited or not credited depending on if your assigned obligation was fulfilled. Not by who actually serves. This way we can ensure that there is adequate coverage daily.
Who can serve as an alternate to fulfill your family's obligation? Only those who have a current Shield the Vulnerable certificate on file in the school office can be a substitute for yard duty.
Yard Duty hours are 11:15 to 12:45. Please report to the picnic lunch area at 11:00, and sign in directly with Mrs. Diaz. She will then assign you a specific responsibility and give you a Yard Duty badge. If an alternate attends in your place, they are to sign in next to your name - there is a line for alternates in the book. Your family will be credited or not credited depending on if your assigned obligation was fulfilled. Not by who actually serves.
Lunchtime Schedules:
The children eat lunch in three different shifts, timed by the school bell. After each shift they have recess; however, they must remain seated while eating until the bell rings to indicate the end of their lunch shift. They are required to clean up after eating.

1st Grade through 4th Grade Ramp
Note: At 12:10pm, a parent must be stationed on the ramp near 1st grade, next to the Boy's restroom. This is very important for the safety of the younger children. Please select someone for this job.
At 12:15pm, the end of lunch bell rings for grades 1,2,3. They are instructed to walk to their classroom and leave their lunchboxes by the classroom door. If they are still eating they can remain at the lunch tables until they are finished. They can also use the restrooms at this time (in pairs), and as a result there is a lot of activity on the ramp. Please remind the children that no running is allowed.

Notes about Recess
- Children are to remain within the areas of the cones surrounding the schoolyard. If a ball rolls outside of this area, an adult should retrieve it.
- The 7th & 8th grades leave their lunches near the 7th grade steps. They use the restrooms in the main building (in pairs) and use the water fountain near the steps. They are familiar with this rule.
- Mrs. Diaz and Mrs. Casali has a first aid kit. Parents can take care of minor accidents, but please inform Mrs. Diaz or Mrs. Casali of anything more serious. Children may be sent to the office in pairs, if not feeling well. Ask them their name and grade of all children going to the office.
- All volunteers on the school premises must wear a badge. If you notice any adults without a badge please inform Mrs. Diaz or Mrs. Casali immediately.
- Whistles are encouraged and provided as an effective method for getting children's attention. Feel free to use one.
- Please leave your cell phones in the car so you can fully focus on the children.
