St. Matthew offers students in grades 5th through 8th an after school drama program. Practices are held at school once a week starting in the fall, culminating in a performance in the spring. Past musical productions include Oklahoma, The Wizard of Oz, Godspell, The Music Man, Jr, The Pirates of Penzance, Jr, and Into the Woods, Jr.

REHEARSALS:
Every Tuesday: September 30, 2008 - March 24, 2009 on stage
Sept 30 to Dec. 16: 3:10-5:00 p.m.
Jan. 6 to March 24: 3:10- 6:00 pm* (please note the additional hour)
*During March, Saturday rehearsals for the main cast only
(No rehearsals during Conference Week, Winter Week and Christmas vacation)
PERFORMANCE DATES:
Fri. March 27; 7:00 pm and Sat. March 28; 2:00 pm
(Students must be available on performance dates to be in the cast)

SIGN-UPS:
FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED Basis by Sept. 14 ( unless already full)
GIRLS - 20 ONLY (5 min. for 5th graders) and 15 for gr. 6,7,8
BOYS - 10 but not more than 15
FEE: $250
Includes weekly professional acting, vocal, dancing direction, cast shirt, libretto and CD
- $50 deposit; with 2 stamped, self-addressed envelopes for tuition reminders
- $100 payments due Nov 12; and Jan. 13 (No refunds after Jan 15)
- Partial scholarships are available, as indicated on Registration Form
Make checks payable to St. Matthew School. Write "Drama Program" on check. Turn in form, check and envelopes to the office in Drama folder or give to Mrs. Barrett
STUDENT EXPECTATIONS:

- Be on time!
- Come prepared!
- Bring your best behavior!
PARENTS, PLEASE NOTE :
- Mandatory meetings: October 28, 5:00-5:45 pm and Jan. 20, 6:00-6:45 pm in Ward Hall;
- Volunteer for at least ONE job listed on the Registration Form; 'It Takes a Village'...really!
- Provide a snack for 20 on your assigned day (tba) for one rehearsal; (water will be provided)
- Provide the costume for your child's part. Details will be given at the Oct. and Jan. meetings

VOCAL COACH/ PRODUCTION MANAGER: BARBARA V. BARRETT;
Barbara Barrett is the St. Matthew music teacher and choral director. She produced Oklahoma in 1993 with the 6th, 7th, 8th grades! Since then, established a Drama Club 13 years ago and has assisted with several productions: Oklahoma (1993), Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Fiddler on the Roof, Godspell, Jr., Music Man, Jr., Pirates of Penzance, Jr., Into The Woods, Jr.!
DRAMA DIRECTOR/CHOREOGRAPHER: KATIE KIMBALL
Katie Kimball has been directing and choreographing musical theater for over 10 years here in the bay area as well as in her native Minnesota. She has worked with Bay Area e.T.c., Custom Made Theater and the Masquers Playhouse, among others. Favorite credits include Peter Pan, Footloose, Hair, and of course, Oklahoma!. She is very excited to be working with St. Matthew's for the first time.
STAGE MANAGER: AMY HARRIS
Amy Harris (Stage Manager) is a graduate of St. Matthew's, class of 1998 and is thrilled to be involved with their drama program for the first time. She is a recent graduate of San Francisco State University and is the resident stage manager for Bay Area Educational Theater Company. She has trained in vocal technique and has performed in numerous plays and musicals throughout her educational career.
