Admission Process
Thank you for your interest in St. Matthew's Catholic School. The following lists the application process steps. Specific date and timeline requirements for school year 2008-2009 are posted in the Admissions Calendar.
Step One: Visit Our School
Open House - Interested parents are highly encouraged to attend our School Open House. This is a family event where parents can visit the classroom exhibits with their children.
Potential New Parent Orientation - This is both an informational session and a school tour given by the St. Matthew Parents' Association. This session is for parents only.
Classroom observations for Kindergarten and Grade 1 are scheduled at the end of January. Applicants may schedule an observation when they drop off their completed application packet at the school office. The observation sessions are limited to 15 minutes.
Step Two: Submit an Application
The Admissions Calendar lists the dates when the application packets will be available for pickup at the school office. We will not mail out the application packets.
The following application materials are required:
- Application Form (front and back of this form must be completed in its entirety)
- Confidential Form (to be completed by your child's current teacher)
- Letter of Recommendation from the Pastor. This form includes validation that the family is registered at the parish listed.
- Copy of Birth Certificate
- Copy of Baptism Certificate
- Copy of Social Security card
- Copy of Immunization Record
- Copy of latest report card and standardized test scores (if applying for grades 2 – 7)
- A $30.00 non-refundable application fee for each applicant.
Step Three: Interviews and Screening
- Please refer to the Admissions Calendar for the screening dates.
- Applicants for Grades 4 through 7 are invited to shadow for a half day during the application process. Please call the office at (650) 343-1373 to make an appointment.
- Interviews with the principal and vice-principal are conducted through the month of February and are by appointment only.
Step Four: Notification
Applicants will receive a letter from the school office indicating their acceptance status. The expected notification dates for the various grade levels are listed in the Admissions Calendar.
